Thank you for visitingTLC Beach Dogs. If you are like me, and if you are looking for someone special to help you with the training and care of your pets, you know how hard it is to find just the right person. Our pets are such an integral part of our families and they are so much more than "just animals". They help to make our lives complete. Most of us want a pet professional who will provide the same high standard of care and pampering that we have already established for our pets. TLC Beach Dogs is here for that very reason!
While my educational background prepared me for a career in law... to say that I went slightly off-track when I chose to live a life "in dogs" would be an understatement! I have always had a passion for pets, and for more than twenty years I have lived my dream as a professional show dog handler. As such, I have been directly responsible for the training, grooming, care, conditioning, development and exhibition of a multitude of memorable show dogs, with more than a few finishing their careers in the top rankings of U.S. competition. I have enjoyed the opportunity to show dogs all over the world including Japan, Mexico, and Rotterdam.
I have recently retired from the AKC Registered Handlers' Program so that I can spend less time on the road and more time actually enjoying the company of dogs. As a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, I am thrilled to be continuing my education on canine behavior. It is so exciting for me to see the tremendous advances that have been made in dog training philosophies and techniques since I exhibited my first obedience cocker, "Goldie", so many years ago! The emphasis with the educated trainers of today is no longer on using "corrections" to deter bad behavior, but rather to teach and reward dogs for proper behavior. The benefits of positive reinforcement training are life-changing for both our pets and for strengthening our human-animal bond. Having used only positive reinforcement in my years of training dogs for conformation events... I know the power that it holds.
In addition to dog training, I am still participating in an occasional AKC show conformation event as an exhibitor and as a personal trainer/coach for other owner-handlers. I have also recently completed several Cocker Spaniel Sweepstakes judging assignments, and in the past, I have had the privilege of judging dogs in the US, Finland and Sweden. I am honored to have been invited to judge the American Spaniel Club National Futurity in Oklahoma in July, 2007.
For the past twenty-five years I have also been a breeder of AKC registered cocker spaniels under the prefix, TLC, and as such I have had the joy of loving and nurturing many incredible puppies. Throughout my life I have had a menagerie of pets including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, snakes and even an iguana! I appreciate the individuality and the special qualities of each and every animal that I work with, and I am sincerely committed to providing conscientious training and reliable care for all. Thank you so much for considering my services. I am continually grateful to be able to work at what I love, and I appreciate the lasting friendships that have developed with people as a result. I assure you that as much as the training and care of animals is a full-time devotion for me, I will continue as always to limit myself to only the number of pets that I can truly pamper. My partner in everything is my husband, Ken, and between us we welcome the opportunity to provide personalized training and care for your best friends.
